Fitbit has been a popular choice for fitness enthusiasts for more than 15 years. Now, under Google’s ownership, a new offering called the Fitbit Air has been introduced. This innovative wearable device provides a budget-friendly and convenient way to monitor daily fitness activities. Unlike previous Fitbit models, the Fitbit Air does not feature a screen and resembles popular Whoop bands that wrap around the wrist like a stylish accessory.

Although the Fitbit Air lacks certain functions like message notifications, heart rate monitoring, and exercise statistics display, it brings notable benefits. The device is designed for enhanced comfort, resembling a bracelet rather than a traditional smartwatch. Recent research conducted by Google revealed that the Fitbit Air excelled in comfort compared to its competitors.

One of the standout features of the Fitbit Air is its impressive battery life, promising a full week of usage without needing to be removed. Moreover, the device supports fast charging, providing a day’s worth of power in just five minutes. Additionally, the Fitbit Air comes with a new magnetic charger featuring bi-directional technology, eliminating the need to worry about the charger’s orientation when recharging.

Despite its minimalist appearance, the Fitbit Air retains essential Fitbit functionalities. It monitors various metrics such as sleep patterns, activity levels, daily workouts, heart rate, and can even detect irregular heart rhythms like AFib, notifying users promptly. Internal components include an optical heart rate monitor, a 3-axis accelerometer, a gyroscope, red and infrared sensors for oxygen saturation, and a temperature sensor.

As the Fitbit Air lacks a display, all data collected is sent directly to users’ smartphones. The Google Health Coach app then compiles this data to provide a comprehensive overview of the user’s health status. The device is water-resistant up to 50 meters and will be available in four colors: Obsidian, Fog, Berry, and Lavender.

The Fitbit Air is priced at £84.99 and offers a blend of comfort, functionality, and advanced health monitoring capabilities for fitness enthusiasts.
