Strictly Come Dancing participant Thomas Skinner has made a solid commitment to his dance partner Amy Dowden following speculation from fans about tension between them. The latest episode of the enduring dance competition aired on Saturday night.
During the show’s launch, the pairings of celebrities with professional dancers were unveiled. Thomas, a 34-year-old Apprentice star, was matched with Welsh dance expert Amy, 35, who returned to the show after overcoming a battle with cancer.
After the reveal on screen, Amy took to social media to express her excitement about teaming up with the reality TV personality. On Instagram, she shared their official couple photo in glamorous dance attire.
In a heartfelt message, she stated, “The news is out! @iamtomskinner and I are excited and working hard rrrrrready for the first live show next Saturday! Tom is working so hard and is loving learning to dance ( more than he ever imagined). We are laughing lots too!”
She continued, “Honestly Tom it’s been so lovely getting to know the really lovely, bubbly, full of life you this week. Thanks for a great week and so looking forward to our strictly journey ahead! Let’s do this.”
Thomas, visibly moved by Amy’s post, assured her of his dedication. He responded in the comments, “Reallly really enjoyed training with you this week. You are honestly an amazing person and everything you have been through…. Shows how strong and inspiring you are.”
He added, “I promise I won’t let you down. I might not be the best dancer. But I promise I’ll be the hardest worker. Thank you for being so kind and lovely to me and I’ve enjoyed your company so much. I ain’t stopped laughing with ya.”
He concluded, “Can’t wait to get on that dance floor with ya next week. Bosh.”
The reassurance came after the duo’s partnership was announced for the new season. While the launch episode aired, some viewers believed they observed tension between Thomas and Amy.
In an on-screen interaction, Thomas shared his dream breakfast choice when asked by host Claudia Winkleman. Amy jokingly referenced their need to dance closely during the show and playfully expressed concerns about his breakfast causing bad breath.
However, Thomas dismissed the concern and pledged to use chewing gum to maintain fresh breath.
Notably, last year, Amy had to withdraw from Strictly when she was paired with JLS star JB Gill due to injury. She made a comeback to the show after battling breast cancer the previous year.
On a different note, Thomas created headlines recently when he confessed to infidelity in his marriage. Reflecting on the mistake, he acknowledged feeling remorseful and shared the impact on his relationship.
