Gary Anderson has expressed his belief that Luke Littler is not the best player globally, solely based on rankings. Littler, a rising star since his impressive debut at the 2024 Darts World Championships, has achieved remarkable success, winning titles like the UK Open, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, and the Premier League.
Despite his achievements, Littler remains in second place globally behind Luke Humphries, who has earned £1,769,000 in prize money over the past year, slightly ahead of Littler’s £1,697,000. Anderson, when asked about the best player in the world, pointed to Luke Humphries as the top player. He also mentioned Michael van Gerwen as the best in Europe outside the UK.
While Littler aims to reach the top spot, he concurs with Anderson’s view. He acknowledges the competition but remains focused on his performance. Littler sees the upcoming world championship as an opportunity to potentially claim the number one spot by putting pressure on the current leader, Luke Humphries.
As Littler prepares for the upcoming world championship at Alexandra Palace starting on December 15, he’s determined to build momentum after his recent successes. The final list of opponents for the championship will be confirmed later this month, with the draw following shortly after.
In other news, Sky has unveiled a discounted Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, offering significant savings and a wide range of live matches, including over 1,400 live games across various leagues, notably the Premier League. Sky plans to broadcast at least 215 live Premier League matches next season, an increase from the previous season.
