A mother was taken into custody for allegedly leaving her two young children unattended in a sweltering car while she went home to rest, resulting in their tragic deaths.

Tiona Lasaisha Islar, 28, was apprehended by authorities after inconsistencies were detected in her recounting of events related to the heartbreaking incident.

According to Islar, she saw her children, six-year-old Sevani Stevenson and three-year-old Miyani Islar, at 10 am before she decided to take a nap. She claimed that she only found them inside the vehicle upon waking up and searching for them later that day.

Law enforcement officials mentioned that the children had been inside the home at some point before emergency services arrived at the scene around 3 pm following reports of the children being left in a hot car.

Upon arrival, a deputy attempted CPR on the children, but paramedics pronounced them dead upon their arrival at the residence.

Islar was arrested on the same day and is facing charges of injury to a child causing serious bodily harm or death.

A neighbor expressed deep distress over the tragic deaths, stating that it left her feeling profoundly upset. She hoped that the children were now at peace.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar pointed out discrepancies in the information provided by Islar, indicating that there were inconsistencies that raised doubts about the full accuracy of her account.

He mentioned ongoing questioning of Islar to gather more details that could shed light on the situation. However, due to the inconsistencies observed, definitive conclusions could not be drawn at that time.

Authorities noted previous calls made to Child Protection Services regarding the children’s well-being, adding to the complexity of the case.

In a separate incident, a married couple and their daughter were arrested on suspicion of torturing six children, subjecting them to severe and prolonged abuse. The suspects, Kenneth Key, Tina Key, and Katlynn Key, were taken into custody following an investigation into allegations of abuse and torture, with details of the crimes and the victims kept confidential.

The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department initiated the investigation based on a tip received through the child abuse hotline, leading to the discovery of the children in Victorville, California.

The victims, aged between five and 16, were suspected of enduring torture, with the suspects identified as Kenneth Key, Tina Key, and Katlynn Key, and subsequently arrested on charges of torture. They were detained at the Central Detention Center on a $1,000,000 bail.
