Noel Gallagher recently shared his thoughts on his friendship with the late Ricky Hatton, expressing shock at the news of the boxing legend’s passing. Both hailing from Manchester, the two stars had developed a strong bond over the years.

In a recent interview, Noel revealed details of a text conversation with the former world champion, recalling their interactions just a week before Hatton’s death. He fondly reminisced about seeing Hatton at Heaton Park, where the boxer was in high spirits, engaging with everyone and enjoying himself.

Describing Hatton as a relatable figure, Noel expressed his disbelief at the tragic news, highlighting the boxer’s well-known struggles with mental health. He emphasized the unpredictability of such situations and praised Hatton as a beloved figure in Manchester.

The Oasis star also shared a humorous anecdote about Hatton inviting him and his brother Liam to join him in the boxing ring in Las Vegas for a match in 2008. The brothers were tasked with carrying Hatton’s world title belts before the fight, a memorable experience that stemmed from a casual conversation during a Manchester City game.

Reflecting on the night of the match, Noel described it as an incredible experience and praised Hatton’s victory in the ring. He fondly recalled their time together in Vegas, highlighting Hatton’s humor and camaraderie.

Additionally, Noel mentioned how Hatton had once joined them on tour, feeling like a part of the band during that period. Hatton’s sudden death at the age of 46 shocked many, with long-serving manager Paul Speak discovering him at home after he failed to attend a scheduled boxing event.

Oasis is expected to pay a special tribute to Hatton at their upcoming UK tour stop, with fans already showing their support in Manchester. The band is likely to honor Hatton during their performance of ‘Live Forever’ at Wembley on September 27.
