Samsung TV owners in the UK are set to receive a significant free upgrade, enhancing their viewing experience with a wealth of bonus content. The UKTV team has recently announced that its popular free-to-air linear channels will soon be accessible on Samsung screens, allowing viewers in the UK to enjoy content without the need for additional devices for the first time.

These channels will be streamed over the internet, eliminating the requirement for a traditional aerial installation. Additionally, Samsung will introduce a dedicated section on its home screen to showcase content from the U streaming service, simplifying content discovery for users.

Classic comedies, dramas, and factual shows will be instantly available without the hassle of navigating through menus or settings. In the upcoming months, channels such as U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&YESTERDAY, U&W, and U&eden will be directly accessible through a deep link from Samsung’s Universal Guide to the U app.

Samsung anticipates that this rollout will reach millions of its TVs, with the channels prominently featured in the platform’s ‘Live’ tab and Universal Guide. This integration aims to ensure that UKTV’s live and on-demand content remains easily accessible to viewers who rely on internet-based TV services.

Jonathan Newman, General Manager of Commercial at UKTV and BBC Studios UK and Ireland, expressed enthusiasm for the strengthened partnership with Samsung, emphasizing the increased accessibility of the U app to Samsung customers. Dan Harvie, Vice President of Home Entertainment and Appliances at Samsung UK and Ireland, highlighted the significance of UKTV’s content in enhancing the entertainment offerings on Samsung TVs.

While an official launch date has not been disclosed, users can expect these new features to roll out on Samsung TVs in the near future. This collaboration underscores Samsung’s commitment to enhancing the viewing experience by providing a comprehensive entertainment ecosystem that combines UKTV’s content with services like Samsung TV Plus and built-in broadcast app access.
