The family of a 14-year-old girl who disappeared over the weekend is concerned that she may have been enticed away by an individual she met online.
Amy Reidling was last spotted at her residence near Decatur, Georgia, at approximately 2pm on Sunday. Her stepmother, Ginny Rutledge, realized she was missing upon returning home for dinner later that day.
Ginny shared, “I opened the door, and she was gone. Tore the house apart, called 911 at 9:15pm. No one’s messages have been read. Every time we call, it goes straight to voicemail.”
The family suspects that Amy might have encountered someone online who potentially advised her on leaving home. Authorities are currently looking into Amy’s disappearance and are requesting anyone with information to come forward. Amy is described as 5 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 105 lbs, with brown eyes and brown hair featuring bangs.
The DeKalb County Police Department issued a statement on Monday, stating, “MISSING: 14-year-old Amy was last seen around 2pm 9/21 at her residence located on the 1900 block of Janet Lane in Decatur. She’s 5’1″ and 105 lbs. with brown eyes and brown hair with bangs. If you see her, call 770-724-7710.”
Amy’s father and stepmother have enlisted the help of a private investigator, and local residents have joined in the efforts to locate the girl.
Expressing concerns that Amy may have fallen victim to an online predator, Ginny conveyed, “There’s a lot she doesn’t know, and especially in a big city like Atlanta. I’m positive that she was taken… Amy, we love you, we miss you. We want you here. We wanted you here. You’re my girl, you’re my person. I miss you. Please come back.” She directly addressed Amy, urging her to reach out if possible and to stay safe.
