Max George has been admitted to the hospital again after undergoing multiple heart surgeries. Days before his tour was set to resume, the singer from The Wanted shared a post from his hospital bed.

The 37-year-old had a pacemaker implanted in December 2024 during an emergency procedure, which revealed a heart block. Since then, he has been in and out of the hospital over the past nine months and recently had a second surgery to adjust his pacemaker wires that were placed too deeply.

On Thursday (18 September), he posted a picture on Instagram from his hospital bed while waiting to see doctors. Despite the situation, Max appeared optimistic, hinting in his post that he still planned to go ahead with his upcoming worldwide tour.

In his post, he humorously wrote: “Tin man needed a bit of oil before tour. Next stop… USA!!!” The revamped version of The Wanted, now consisting of Max and original bandmate Siva Kaneswaran, completed a summer tour in the UK and is scheduled to tour North America for the next month.

Their first stop is scheduled for Orlando, Florida, but the band has faced cancellations before. In February, they had to cancel a show in Manchester Cathedral due to Max’s second operation. Max personally confirmed the news on Instagram, expressing his disappointment at not being well enough to perform.

Max has been transparent about his recovery journey online. In a previous update, he mentioned the long recovery process ahead after the operation and the potential risks involved, including the possibility of a dangerous bleed due to the new surgery.

With the support of his bandmate, mother, Barbara, and girlfriend, Maisie Smith, whom he met on Strictly Come Dancing, Max underwent the recent procedure with a calmer demeanor. He shared glimpses of his hospital stay on social media, showing gratitude for the care he received.
