Jack Draper has parted ways with his coach of four years, James Trotman. During Trotman’s tenure, Draper secured three ATP Tour titles, including a victory at Indian Wells, made it to the semi-finals of the 2024 US Open, and rose to the fourth spot in the global rankings.
Trotman has decided to step back from coaching to prioritize his family obligations. Draper’s 2025 season was cut short due to an arm injury, with the British No.1 playing just one official match after Wimbledon, reaching the second round of the US Open before withdrawing.
Recently, Draper enlisted the services of Jamie Delgado, a former coach of Andy Murray and Grigor Dimitrov. Delgado officially joined Draper’s team nine days ago, with plans to accompany Draper on most tour events.
Despite initial considerations for Trotman to remain involved, the coach, who has young children, feels he cannot provide the necessary support required by the ninth-ranked player in the world while attending to his family responsibilities. Nevertheless, Draper acknowledges Trotman’s contributions and considers him an integral part of his team.
Draper is scheduled to make his competitive comeback at the UTS London event in December, with Delgado as his lead coach. Delgado, who previously coached Murray for five successful years, helped Murray achieve significant milestones, including winning his second Wimbledon title and finishing as the world No. 1.
Previously, Delgado spent three years coaching former world No. 3 Dimitrov, aiding him in reclaiming a top 10 ranking and securing notable tournament victories. However, Dimitrov’s career was recently halted by a severe injury at Wimbledon, forcing him to retire from professional play.
Delgado is not the only addition from Murray’s team to join Draper. Earlier in the season, Draper also welcomed Shane Annun and Matt Little, former members of Murray’s coaching staff, as part of his team.
Draper has been diligently training at the National Tennis Centre gym and recently completed a short training program in the Algarve to enhance his preparation.
