Oleksandr Usyk has declined a potential match-up with promising British boxer Moses Itauma. The Ukrainian secured his second undisputed heavyweight championship in July by defeating Daniel Dubois in front of a massive crowd at Wembley Stadium. Despite turning 39 soon, Usyk announced earlier this year that he intends to have two more fights before retiring.

In a surprising turn of events, Usyk now aims to prolong his boxing career until the age of 41. He expressed his commitment to continue fighting during an interview with UNN, stating his plans to establish a Sports Academy post-retirement. Usyk emphasized his rigorous training routine and his aspiration to return to the ring next year with the hope of claiming victory with divine assistance.

As Usyk prepares for his comeback in the ring, potential opponents like Joseph Parker and Tyson Fury have been speculated. However, Usyk clarified that he will not be facing Itauma despite the young boxer’s impressive record. The undefeated British fighter gained attention after his remarkable knockout triumph over Dillian Whyte, leading many to believe he is ready to challenge Usyk. Usyk himself has endorsed Itauma’s potential to dominate the heavyweight division in the future.

Itauma recently turned down an IBF final eliminator against Frank Sanchez, which would have positioned him for a clash with Usyk. Instead, the British prospect opted for a different route towards a world title fight, citing the importance of gaining experience in the ring. Itauma highlighted the strategic value of facing Usyk, emphasizing the potential benefits of either winning or learning from a bout with the current world champion.

In other boxing news, Kieron Conway is scheduled to face George Liddard on October 17 at York Hall, Bethnal Green. The event, featuring a packed undercard, will be broadcast live on DAZN, offering fans an exciting lineup of fights. Viewers can access the live stream through the DAZN platform via various devices, with subscription options tailored to different preferences and commitments.
