In today’s fast-paced digital era, many people in the UK are rediscovering the joys of traditional hobbies as a way to disconnect from technology and find solace in hands-on activities.

Activities like baking, gardening, knitting, painting, and sketching are experiencing a resurgence, providing individuals with a therapeutic escape and a means to bond, express creativity, and relax. Notably, Hilary and Michael Whitehall recently showcased their artistic talents during a romantic outing in London, where they engaged in drawing challenges using the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 series.

The tablet features Galaxy AI Drawing Assist, a tool that elevates sketches by converting them into various styles such as illustrations, pop art, or 3D cartoons. The celebrity couple, known for their appearances on Netflix’s “Travels with My Father” and Channel 4’s “Celebrity Gogglebox,” demonstrated their skills by creating portraits of celebrities like Harry Styles and Taylor Swift, as well as each other.

Beyond drawing, traditional pastimes like birdwatching, soapmaking, pottery, calligraphy, and quilting are also witnessing a revival. A recent study revealed that 76% of Brits view these activities as valuable for building relationships.

Reflecting on their experience, Hilary and Michael commented on how the Sketch to Image feature of the tablet helped enhance their drawings, allowing them to reminisce about shared memories without any disagreements. Annika Bizon, Mobile Experience VP of Product and Marketing at Samsung UK & Ireland, emphasized the blend of tradition and innovation, noting the importance of technology like the Galaxy Tab S11 series in complementing rather than replacing traditional skills.

The redesigned S Pen offers users a familiar pen-to-paper experience, enhancing the authenticity of digital drawing. The shift towards leveraging technology to empower individuals in their creative pursuits underscores a growing appreciation for the blend of classic hobbies with modern tools.
