Apple’s AirTag is a must-have if you frequently misplace your keys. These small, disk-shaped trackers, introduced in 2021, have gained popularity for their ability to pinpoint lost items on a map accurately. Due to their compact size, AirTags can be attached to keys, placed in bags, laptop cases, or luggage effortlessly.

Upon nearing the tag, your iPhone provides precise on-screen directions, and the AirTag emits a sound to aid in locating it. The latest AirTag version has been revealed, featuring an enhanced Ultra Wideband chip that extends its range significantly.

Apple claims that this update enhances Precision Finding by up to 50%, allowing easier tracking of lost items from greater distances. For the first time, select Apple Watch models support Precision Finding, enabling users to locate misplaced items directly from their wrist.

Moreover, Apple has increased the volume output. With a redesigned internal speaker, the new AirTag produces sounds that are 50% louder than its predecessor, making it ideal for finding it in hard-to-reach places.

AirTags operate through Apple’s extensive Find My network, which leverages nearby Apple devices to relay location data back to the owner anonymously. The system has been revamped with a focus on privacy, ensuring that AirTags do not store location history and all communication with the network is encrypted end-to-end for owner-only visibility.

The new AirTag seamlessly integrates with Share Item Location, an iOS feature enabling users to securely share an item’s location with trusted parties, such as airlines, to aid in recovering lost belongings like delayed luggage. Apple has partnered with over 50 airlines to support this functionality.

The latest AirTag is now available for order on apple.com/uk and the Apple Store app, with in-store availability coming soon. Additionally, prices start at £29 for a single AirTag or £99 for a pack of four, making it more cost-effective than the original version, which launched at £35.
